LATEX FAQs

What type of material do you use?

All of our products are manufactured from the finest natural latex. Unless otherwise stated, the standard thickness of our latex clothing is approximately 0.3mm. Heavyweight clothing is also available by special order and its thickness is approximately 0.8mm. Please contact us if you have any questions about heavyweight latex or want to place an order.

What about colours?

All products are available in black, and some in red, yellow and translucent.  See individual listings for colour availability.

How do I choose the right size?

The measurements listed on our site are approximate and can vary slightly. They are unstretched measurements. Please remember latex will stretch roughly 10-15%. Latex clothing is designed to fit like a second skin. Try selecting a size that is an inch or two smaller than your actual size for that tight fit feel. Ultimately, however, it is a matter of personal preference. If you are uncertain which size to order please send us an email and we will try our best to help you find that perfect fit.

Are plus size items available?

Some items do come in plus sizes. Contact us for further details. Please also indicate what item you are interested in and your measurements. We will do our best to help you.

Why can't I get into my new latex dress?

Latex clothing can be very difficult to get on. Many people, however, really enjoy getting dressed in their latex as it is all a part of the fun! It may just take a bit of time and patience until you get the hang of it.

Unscented talcum powder, or a water based lubricant is essential (there are also some specific latex dressing aids)! Which you use comes down to personal preference. Either way, make sure that both the inside of the garment and your body is lightly covered with the substance of choice, and then slowly ease the item on. Avoid grabbing the latex with your fingers as this could result in finger impressions. Instead, use your whole hand to gradually shift the latex into place. Make sure that your body is clean, dry, and free of oils before dressing. Watch out for sharp objects such as fingernails, jewellery or watches, as these may tear the latex.

Things to avoid.... oil based liquids (ex. baby oil) or cornstarch. These will damage your latex.

Check out our latex dressing aids. We now sell ViviClean, ViviShine & ViviShine Spray, in addition to Chez Noir Lube, Chez Noir Shiner & Just Talc.

What is chlorination?

Ever wished that putting on your latex clothing could be as easy as pulling on a spandex bodysuit or lycra leggings?? Having it slide right on like any other clothing item in your wardrobe? Chlorinating your latex clothing can make this dream a reality! Please see our page on why you should chlorinate your latex for full details.

Why is my latex not shiny like in the photos?

When your latex arrives you might be disappointed that it does not appear super shiny like you see in the photos or videos. Don't panic, indeed this is normal. Getting that perfect shine will require a bit of practice and patience. However, the longer you have your latex garment and the more you shine it, the shinier it will become.

What you use to shine your latex is a matter of personal preference. In order to get that high gloss look you can use a silicone based lubricant. There are in fact several brands specifically recommended for latex. These can be found in both a polish and a spray (again really a matter of personal preference). Water based lubricants can also be used. These are easier to clean up and less messy, but they don't always produce as high of a shine and may dry out faster. If you are using a cloth to apply, be sure to use a soft, lint free cloth, and make sure to rub lightly to avoid damaging the latex. If you are wearing your latex and find you can't reach certain areas, don't worry, it shouldn't be too hard to find a volunteer for this job!

Check out our latex dressing aids to help with this. We now sell ViviClean, ViviShine & ViviShine Spray, in addition to Chez Noir Lube, Chez Noir Shiner & Just Talc.

Should I wash my latex clothing?

Most definitely! Natural body oils and sweat will eventually begin to breakdown your latex if not removed. In order to avoid this it is important to wash your latex clothing after each wear.

How do I care for my latex clothing?

Properly caring for your latex clothing can dramatically increase the life of your latex and ensure that you have many years of fun in store. Please see our page caring for your latex for detailed instructions on how to wash, store and properly care for your new latex.
